Palace Electric Cinemas in Canberra is a movie theater that offers some of the newest releases and independent films. It also has an eclectic range of cinema fare, including classic movies on 35mm film. Palace Electric is one of the few theaters in Australia to offer this service, which is especially popular with cinephiles who want to save films as they were originally released.
Palace Cinemas was established by Ian Shearer who had previously worked for Hoyts Movie Theatres and Village Roadshow Limited. It is one of two operating cinemas left in the ACT that screens both Hollywood blockbusters as well as independent films.
Palace Electric Cinemas have eight theaters, luxurious seating and the latest in digital projection and sound to ensure your viewing experience is nothing less than perfect. The theater also hosts independent films as well as first-runers.

Palace Electric presents prestigious premieres and festivals such as the Lavazza Italian Film Festival, Alliance Francaise French Film Festival, and Spanish Film festivals.

At the heart of NewActon is Nishi, the much-loved ‘pineapple-shaped’ building which won International Project of the Year at the 2015 Building Awards in London .
The NewActon Nishi complex is an award-winning sustainable precinct designed by the renowned architects Bates Smart, and includes several buildings constructed from materials such as concrete, slate roofs and timber cladding. The design of New Acton has been recognised with a number of awards including International Project of the Year at the 2015 Building Awards in London.
